Power BI Fundamentals

This course provides students with an introduction to data visualisation in Power BI in an intuitive step by step process.

Description

This course provides students with an introduction to data visualisation in Microsoft Power BI by building a foundational understanding of importing and displaying business data. This includes the skills needed to operate many of Power BI’s key features such as data connection, creating card and chart data visualisations, data filters and publishing and sharing your custom visualisations.

Students will learn important data display skills including how to proficiently work in Microsoft Power BI, to import user data before creating, interpreting, and publishing custom visualisations.

 

Audience profile

This course has been designed to apply to end users of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service Hub.
It is recommended that attendees of this course have an existing working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook. However, this course assumes no prior knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365.

 

At course completion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Setup and Install Power BI for Desktop.
  • Connect data in Power BI.
  • Add custom visualisations to a Power BI dashboard.
  • Publish a custom Power BI report.
  • Share published Power BI Dashboards and reports.

Module 1: Introduction

This module provides an introduction to the lab environment, lab settings and setup instructions for the Dynamics 365 Application.

  • Set up a trial of Microsoft Dynamics 365 to be used as a Data source for Power BI

This module provides an introduction to the Power BI application – including setup instructions, download instructions and database connection instructions.

This module provides the user with the skills needed to create a report in Power BI, including the data visualisation of business data in charts and dashboards.
